People are people
it's just that simple
but we're quick to judge them
and rank them like gold and silver
We are remarkable!
We are marvelous!
and nothing can take that from us
for people are people
We should know that much
How much do we wonder at our value?
How much do we think about our fate?
that the starving person on the corner beside us
one day may be the president.
People are people
whether good or evil
and we should never forget
when we see, or we read, or we think, or we write,
or what ever we may become,
We are the people
We are the people
Let's live as one
to help, to teach, to give, to do the impossible
To be the people
to be the people
who live as one.
And thank you for the times
that you have done all these things
to build community
for the strong and the weak
and for the times you've prayed
for loved ones far away
fighting in a distant land
to bring them to safety
And we hope with all our knowledge
that we can do what is right
to give strength to each other
in our personal fight
for
people are people
it's just that simple
we are wonderful
and marvelous
we should know who we are. . .
(I like to write in theme and chain thoughts together in my poetry. It makes it easier to write) (This is one of several themes I have written about over the summer.)

This part: the starving person on the corner beside us one day may be the president reminded me of the old saying: "Be careful how you treat others on your way to the top, because you will never know who your are going to meet again on your way back down and you may need their help."
This well written poem gives one much to think about.
