Her hands reaching for me plaintively, begging me to stay.
You know my heart longs to stay as well.
I can only hope you understand,
That I can’t be here.
This whole place is a castle spun with lies.
I never asked you to be what I wanted.
I made you my gossamer princess
I loved you.
Then I found the silken threads were spider webs.
I was consumed by desire, all I felt was love for you.
I never saw the fangs in your smile.
I told myself the pain in each kiss was love.
I saw how tightly you held me, wrapping me in your world.
Your venom turned me from everyone I cared for.
Only too late I found out the truth.
