Freedom to Fight

Contributed by ScribereHabeo on Monday, 8th July 2013 @ 12:35:17 PM in AEST
Topic: Patriotic

We live in a place where freedom has been defined
We all dress like each other, living life on repeat
The process of being different has been refined
To be just yourself would be a remarkable feat

Words are meaningless anymore
We fight the people outside of our reach
Instead of dealing with the demons behind our locked door
Forcing us to obey authority, to the kids they "Teach"

War against the people who we made monsters
War on the people with our lying laws
War on the heroes that are on posters
War against the machine with its gnashing jaws

Rise from the rubble of the American dream
Rise to kill the monsters of greed
Rise to make things better than they seem
Rise to bite the false hand that doesn't feed

I would rather my children grow from evolution
Instead of something our leaders decide
I would rather my children be sprung from revolution
Instead of from ignorance, greed, and fake pride

Our future depends on who has the most money
It doesn't matter who's right
Killing our economy like it's a joke that isn't funny
You can try your hardest to make our future bright
You can band together against the power
We together have the freedom to fight...

Revolution is a word that requires more action than words. :) If things get bad enough... it will happen. Personally... internal strife is not something i look forward to.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
