"Give me your hand and I show you",
She said as I closed my eyes
"the places where I go to
Whenever you are sleeping.
You only find it in the dark
For light tells only lies
Don't believe one needs a spark
In a night to see in.“
And so she lead me to a door
That opened to a room of shadows
It was a place where I had been before
I had only seen it differently.
And music hit me in my heart
With its obscure libretto
It ripped my mind apart
And went on jiggling me.
"So can this keep up with your sleep?“
She asked as she closed her eyes.
Her words elevated me from the deep
entanglement of my mind.
"When it is dark I can see you
For light supports disguise.“
And I hold it to be true
In a world so unconfined.

This makes me think of my special wife. Before we married we fooled around and I would stay overnight at her place, but I had a lot of trouble actually going to sleep next to her.
I just couldn't, I just wouldn't feel safe, strange as it sounds, it was commitment, something I'd never done ever before.
It was letting go.
Then one night I did, all the pain, the wretched fool I was, it was there in a frightful dream. I felt as though I was broken, nothing more was to become from me, as though I was paralyzed--- then, magically I felt wonderful, and she was the only one watching over me.
I'll never forget that. And it's strange because she is my best friend and I love and respect her so much.
We kiss and hug each other every morning before we leave each day for work. I didn't want children, she did. Now that we have them, well it's wonderful... They are.
The Dark... Nice poem!
Peace! |
