Quit a Bad Habit Using Wit

Contributed by mvvenkataraman on Saturday, 8th June 2013 @ 11:23:00 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Any bad habit must be severely kicked
Once again it must not at all be picked
We must not give it a chance to be back
This requires determination and knack

A strong will may help us resist temptation
For such a will, we must make a preparation
Overnight we may not get power to succeed
But, gradually we can achieve what we need

Just for one day, we must try to avoid
That habit which creates in life a void
Like this we must improve our score
That habit's invitation we must ignore

Help of prayer can be surely had
As power to mind, God will add
In case we can nicely win over
We can escape from worry-fever

Challenge yourself to prove supremacy
At any cost, never vote to remain lazy
Anything can be done by hopefully trying
What is the use of simply sadly crying?

I like - anything can be done by hopefully trying - although sometimes a sad cry makes you mad after a time - like for crying out loud, I did it again.
This is a nice piece. I've been there. I'm there now in many ways - habits form, not all detrimental, but they can disarm us from new things on which we can build on.
Change can and does always come with - oh no, here we go again, frustration. The quiet calm you speak of, or self determination, should try to revoke the bad attitude that only sinks one further into the mud. Use your tool, your brain, and talk it through unafraid to face change...
I'm reminded of a cartoon in June's New Yorker/ 2013, it's a monument of this middle aged man standing angrily. Underneath written in stone it says - he bravely fought against "everything".
Thanks for a good piece!

Peace!
