Behind a Frozen Waterfall

There it sits... within the ice... beating like a drum,
a soft and gentle thrumming sound... and yet it feels so numb,
Through forest and through rock hard stone... this river sought to flow,
it ebbed and swayed within the rock... and founds its way back home,
And as it crashed upon the rocks... it froze into a form,
a form that shaped...so bold and proud... the calm within the storm,
a storm of notes within the dark... to slip between the rocks,
to snake, to bend, to twist, to turn... and find what was once lost,
There it sits... within the frost... just listen... you will hear,
the song that waits for starlit skies... and hides within my fear.

Haha, always good to see when you post something new.
And yet again, something you bring to the table with a sense of beauty, nature, reality, and a seemingly ambiguous or abstract ending that makes me re-evaluate my interpretation, but yet it is fitting with the intro.
Cool thing is, and I don't know if this was the intention, but if the ice is the human body, the river the blood, and the beating the heart... It would seem that the "river" is traveling around through nature, virtually aimlessly, until it finally settles down.
Just a cool thought. :) |

Hi there
Well written. Captures the harsher side of emotions. Many people tent to shy away from this fact and your poem reminds us that sometimes we need to let life shape us. We as man doesn't have the ability to do it all on our own. Again very well penned.
Greeting
