Born and raised in a town nick-named 'no mean city'
Once familiar, now a stranger, violence second nature
Swapped those mean streets for an out in the sticks address
Designer name threads switched for a pretty cotton dress
Grey skies for the scorching flame reds of a Southern sunrise
No more fad diets its all fried chicken now and sweet potato pies
Ditched the fancy cocktails for pitchers of cold sweet tea
Lifeless bouquets for wild flowers scent wafting on summer breeze
No missing the soul destroying daily grind for a slower pace of life
Sitting on the front porch, radio playing 'Country Boy Can Survive'
Green tomatoes, watermelon, home grown corn, down on the farm
Feeling rejuvenated seduced by this land's sweet Southern charm
Tailgates, BBQs, picnic parties, crawfish fishing, dipping toes in the creek
A friendly neighbour's call of 'hey y'all' , the children playing hide go seek
The catchy toe-tapping boot scootin' beat of a hoedown country band
It forever holds a special place in my heart my adopted homeland.

Welcome to YPDC.
This is a masterpiece.
Being a country girl, I've lived in the City so I know how this feels. I'll stick with my country home.
Blessings, country,
emy |

Hello Kitty
This is beautiful. As Emy says country is the only way to go. Me being a city boy from Johannesburg in South Africa I've always had a think for good old USA country. It started with "Little House on the Prairie" I fell in love with that way of life. Thank you for sharing it took me back many many years to a time when I still use to dream.
Greetings
