The mists of the sea

Contributed by iodinelove on Saturday, 25th May 2013 @ 02:33:35 AM in AEST
Topic: abstract

I have found the truth
In the dust of an old, unabridged dictionary
Waiting for the pressure of welled tears on the sinus
To diminish

The words cannot make the poem flow
They are hard edged and weary
Prodigal stones

The provenance of power
That hides behind words
Is not in the alignment of the letters
Or in the placement of syllables or stresses
The cast of the line
It is not in simple or complex rhyme

The power of the words
Sparks from the eyes and the mind
The mists of the sea
The end of moonlight on the water

I liked reading this one. It made me lean forward in anticipation, and at the end, come away satisfied that I had experienced a poet's insight into words and their differential nature - that is, not always poetic, but powerful in their own way.

A poem about the power of words... hmmm. I find it to my liking. :) Bravo.
