The life of a dead man

Contributed by TheDreamer on Monday, 20th May 2013 @ 09:58:40 PM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

The life of a dead man is an interesting thing,
He stands, talks, walks and moves like a normal being,
The only way to be sure he's dead is to see his mind,
It's both beautiful and depressing the things you'll find,
He hates his job because of all the long nights,
He'd much prefer to be home but can't stand his wife,
He went to school and did his degree,
That wasn't his dream though, but his parents decree,
He traded comfort for happiness, a dangerous deal,
For him it is only his sadness that he knows is truly real,

Everything else is a blur,
Almost an illusion,
A life of regrets, dead dreams, confusion,
To be alive and to be living are two different things,
Never being able to enjoy the freedom life brings,
The life of a dead man is neither here nor there,
Where other's have love,
He only has fear,
Where others continue to dream,
Everything lacks vision,
Everything unclear,

The life of a dead man is something you don't have to live,
Don't let your fears consume you,
Give all you you can give,
To be alive and be living are two different things,
Cease all the opportunities you have,
Enjoy all that life brings.

I enjoyed reading your poem
The line:
" To be alive and be living are two different things"
is so true.
