The innocence of early years
That gave us immortality
Too quickly faded and became
The hollow triumph of the game
And through our tears toward our fears
It led us to our destiny
We ran to pleasures of the flesh
With recklessness and lack of thought
And didn’t pause to realize
The headlong rush, the vacant eyes
Would soon destroy this fleeting joy
And bring regret for what we’d wrought
So now it’s late the hour has come
To analyze true souls laid bare
Our egos must be put away
So honesty can claim the day
It’s very clear, the questions here
Are: “Did we love?” and “Did we care?”
