revelation

Topic: drugabuse

One morning I woke up to find
That everything was real
I had no crutch to help me stand,
No magic juice to make me heal
And when I looked behind me
At the chaos I had caused
I knew that something had to change
Before it all was lost.

The poison I was taking in
Made life a living hell
But that which I was putting out
Made others feel the flames as well
The wreckage in my rear view
Simply had to be addressed
I had to ease the pain of those
I’d left in hopelessness

I had to seek a higher road
And find a guiding hand
And have someone who’d care for me,
Who’d help me and would understand
Turned out it wasn’t someone
But something that eased my pain
And led me from the darkness
Out into the light again

There really was no magic to
The remedy I found
For many others such as I
Had picked themselves up off the ground
And now it’s simply day to day
And working it all through
For with my Higher Power’s help,
I’ve started life anew.

Very beautiful,
Even though i don´t know what you´re darkness is, I find it very inspiring and i like how you reflect over how your darkness as well as light can effect others.
Very good.

I like your poem and I think I know what its about
so I think I can relate to it- is it about alcoholism?
or more importantly battling your demons and
overcoming alcoholism
