Love for a Ghost

How long does it take for one to accept
The life that we live so full of regret
With each passing day, come more questions unknown
Seeing his face sends chills through your bones
What do you do when there’s no solid base?
Like the one you threw away so you could keep with the pace
When sadness sticks by you with no certain home
And you can’t remember ever feeling this alone
Hastily now, your cautions dismiss
You search for substance in a meaningless kiss
Nothing compares to the love you once knew
So you’ll always hold closely to the ghost you cling to
Closing your eyes you pretend that your back
Losing yourself until the world fades to black
Pushing his heart unto strangers who have not a clue
Of the emptiness lurking from your efforts misused
To let the mind wander is to let his memory rush in
Constantly stuck thinking of what could have been
When your heart lies so firmly with a past lover
Be weary of the pull to run to another.
