My Own Candy Land

Contributed by CARAAAAA on Wednesday, 24th April 2013 @ 02:31:32 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

I don't mean to sugar coat it,
but there are painted boats
with sterns protruding outwards to the wind,
giving thumbs up signs,
and comfortably crusty bases
that ricochet off
the salty peaks of waves
like an exhilarating, "don't shut your eyes" wonderfully wet amusement ride.
I don't mean to sugar coat it,
but beyond the shroud of short and stout
trees and structures
glimpsed when approaching
the snow-hued sandy shores,
is languid activity
channeled from an accelerated heartbeat.
I don't mean to sugar coat it,
but there are grinning people
sliding down rainbows,
way past molten sunset swirls,
unencumbered and billowing in the high high high sky
that dip low to reach into your deep deep deep soul
Grinning people,
grimacing in the morning
as piercing yellow rays
the same shade as smiley faced icons
baffles their blunt, fuzzy vision,
worn down by the neon
Nights of Luminosity.
I don't mean to sugar coat it,
but the deep drones of sleep
do not sound
in the realm of wide-awake, pupil dilated dreams,
where my legs feel
like a tepid bowl of noodles,
soaking in a broth of inertia
but always, always
a smile and a pulsating beat
are there to reanimate them
as sunset preens
and proudly displays its gleaming teeth,
in time to chew and savour
an endlessly delectable night
like a child's first glistening
brightly hued ice cream
surrounded by adulating adults
in a time where chides and rough tides
did not exist.
I don't mean to sugar coat it,
but this is where I buy my candy,
I don't mean to sugar coat it,
but this is the place of my most unfettered dreams.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
