A Strange Childhood

Contributed by bryantjunior on Monday, 22nd April 2013 @ 10:39:34 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

When did being sober, become only my alter ego.

Life, turned into dice, almost ready to through.

Ups and downs, highs and lows, never ending.

Telling nobody, hoping to avoid the condescending.

Hoping to find some way to breathe, some way to break the ice that doesn’t want to break.

My brain to trying to save me, hoping it will be the ice first and not me that will crack.

Jumping in out of reality, does it really help your problems or just create more.

Forgotten days and nights, whatever happened, I was never quite sure.

It came at quite a cost, and money wasn’t even the problem.

It was supposed to help, but nights never ended till the late am.

Dragged into a world, which I somehow walked out with my head held high.

But I’m not going to lie, I’m happy no longer having to act the tough guy.

When really I was broken inside, a boy on edge of despair.

As I watched people walk by, I can’t even hold a stare.

Why was I here, how had I come to this, how did I not know it was a mistake going in.

Hindsight in hand, some many years of my life spent living in sin.

Life, turned into dice, almost ready to through.

When did being sober, become only my alter ego.

You words tell the story with a strengh of intensity. I followed your tale and could relate to a lot of it. Your words painted a pained world with colors of survival. Very great write. Thank you for sharing, P
