So, it’s like wanting to drown, but not being able to.
Like the water keeps you afloat
and all you want is to sink beneath the waves,
never to surface again.
I feel this each time he walks by me like I don’t exist.
This ache in my chest,
it kills me.
I’m not sure what I did, or why he does it, but somehow I understand.
It’s not that he doesn’t like me, maybe he’s just shy.
I’ve done this before, when I like someone it’s hard to look at them,
it’s hard to be around them, so instead of going after what I want,
I kind of pull away. Maybe he’s the same way.
I guess that’s what I’ll keep telling myself.
Each time I die, I’ll remind myself,
hey maybe he’s just shy.

Nice poem. I think we've all encountered similar situations. The person you're talking about in the poem - do you know each other? Or are they someone you know OF? If you know each other, maybe you could start with a friendly gesture, just to get them to notice you. If they're in one of your classes - you could start a friendly approach and say something like "hey! how well did you do in the exam?" or "What are you planning to do for the class project?" Anything that start a conversation and you could always take from there,,, ;-)
