poem#187
basic laws behind my lies
classic theme, today's disguise
do it best right to your eye
Dare my Slick to slide to Sly
how can it be this mockery,
this side effect in front of me.
how can it be normality
for God to point a gun at Me.
can't turn my back,
my front's ashamed.
can't reach out
these bruise-ed veins
cant go on, cant maintain
can't scrub this mind out of my brain.
can't believe i bought my lie-
"couldn't care less about the reasons Why"
can't stop laughing until i cry
can't stop wanting until i die.

I know of whence you speak. I literally and figuratively feel every ounce of your pain here. Of course I would never share that I am fighting a drug addiction right now- that would be improper. I've spent the better part of thirty-five of my fifty years in an unending battle between my heart, my mind and my hunger to be anyone but me, to be anything other than what I am. The real rub on it is that in my effort to escape the fact of my varied addictions, I turned (and turn..sshhh) to drugs to avoid the pain of that which I seek to escape from. Like rubbing fire on my arm to escape the heat- insanity, I know.
Anyway, on to the next one from you.
Best,
Invierno |
