My heart fell off my sleeve;
it died a slow death.
An unkind word pricked
my heart with its first wound.
A few precious drops of life escaped.
The wound healed but never sealed.
Daily attacks killed its beat.

| I like the idea of this poem. I'm unsure where you are in your poetry journey but this could have been a very well written idea. You almost underplayed it. Maybe purposefully |
