Like a puppet on strings
I move at someone's will
Controlling my movements
Unable to be stilled
When did I lose function
Who controls these strings.
For its not on one persons hands
That causes this suffering
Maybe when I gave up on myself
And lived for others in my life
When I became someone's puppet
And earned all this strife.
These actions are not of recent
For a while I have moved without cause
Bent over backwards for others
Just to live life on pause
But these strings have become brittle
Been pulled way to often
I can feel the movement of my mind
And their control began to soften
When I snapped free and fell
I fell as fast as a rock.
Finding the strength to stand.
Finding the purpose to walk
The fault is of my own
For I gave my strings away
Allowed others to move me.
Feeding me the words to say
But now my will is my own.
And I will move at my own pace
No longer being controlled
A man with a new face.

so i liked this line in particular "Finding the strength to stand.
Finding the purpose to walk"... i can relate to this one, and read it because of the title. i have a thing i wrote a while ago about 'nothing but a puppet, ***** at it's strings...dangling it above the edge of realization'
is this just you writing as someone else, or do you feel as if you have a new face?
my poems often are best read out loud. this one passes the rhythmic test. good job. |

As we grow we look to others for guidance. Strings attached..
When we are grown we look to ourselves for answers guidance rejected.
Strings cut...
When we are old we look to guide others in their journeys as we look to impart our wisdoms.
Strings re-tied to those growing...
When we die strings severed as we are given a new face in the after life.
