Plight.
cancel the sunset, fight off the night
don't grieve for morning, the shadow of light
it's the same wicked day, the same rabid bite
the same echo of screams, the same tunnel without light
it may seem like a new day with a promising night
a chance to start fresh, and this time, do it right
but look closely, you'll see the wires and the lights
and my god, can it be? the pain acts like delight
what the hell's going on? this isn't our fight
someone switched reason for disease like a thief in the night
that's why it's always so painfully bright
and why you can't seem to give up OR put up a fight
what you see is not light, it's the dark painted white
no function, no form...a madman's delight
so what now? simple...just search for The Light
for the tunnel is time and there's no end in sight.

A well written piece to reflect the lure of addiction, its beauty, its torment. Well done ND |

That was really good on several levels. It reminds me of something going on in my life right now, particularly the 2nd verse. Nice work! Blessings, SF |
