I chose you

When I was younger,
I chose the man I thought was best,
And I chose you to be my dad.
I chose you before my father.
Doesn't that make you feel loved?
You and my mother,
Are not together anymore
But my love for you remains
I chose you over her new boyfriend
Doens't that show that I still care?
She argues with me
Yells and and scolls at me
Sometimes I don't understand why
But I'm still on your side!
I got mad at myself,
Because I chose you before my own mother!
Doesn't that make me a good daughter?

Doesn't it hurt trying to please your parents? I've been through this battle before, and I've given up, now I just fight to please myself and what makes me happy. Just being yourself will always make you a good daughter... I've learned that in the past couple of years. Great write blu!

I've never met my parents, so I couldn't possible understand what this must be like for you. But i understand how hard it is to choses between two people you love. I enjoyed this poem, very nicely written. |
