the way it works out

The way it works out sometimes is like a gray broken down car left ravished in an empty desert off of highway 304. I’ve found myself lost on that old route dozens of times and each time, I am drawn to its solitude. Nothing but scorched earth for miles and that empty deserted car, its presence a landmark for those that have gone too far. It stands alone through the rain that quenches the thirst of the sand- indifferent to the creatures that crawl through the holes of its crevice, looking for something to eat as solace for their efforts…but there’s nothing to be found and yet, they always return. The way it works out sometimes is I find myself here, here beneath the rubble- Searching for new days in your confessions and my knees pull me to the ground in a world where you are at the center of it all. The way it works out sometimes is me and the car have a lot in common.
