NOIR
Endless hours
Alone upon a café stool.
Afloat in bitter coffee, and regrets.
In the rain outside
The flashing lightning;
And passing headlights
Turn the street to silver.
Too tired to go, or to stay.
Closing time;
A weary sigh and out into the night.
A solitary figure,
Like a film noir hero in the closing scene
In some old 1940’s movie,

Your words convey a dreamlike view into the world the poet inhabits in this write. You can feel the lonliness, dispair, yet around it floats a mist of hope. I liked your imagery and the flow, like the flicker of each frame on film. Great write. Thank you for sharing, P |
