Moments

Topic: LostLove

Enough time has passed to realize
That the moments we lived through could never last.
The warmth of hands, the friendly smile, the touch, the kiss, and then the last goodbye.

Sometimes I wonder if my heart could choose, would it try to turn the hands of time and unspeak the spoken truth?
Would we still carry the innocence of the past
Or would we be burdened by the feeling that it could never last.

These moments of sunrise watching us by the rocks, the moon looking at us through the trees, the midnight dances, and your honest eyes…

These moments they hunt me, they don’t let me breathe.
These moments I cherish and I hope never to leave.
These moments they burn, they hurt and they demand
These moments give hope, give strength and they define.

If I only had the courage to say what’s on my mind,
To admit the defeat and admit to the crime,
Would I feel stronger and better some days?
Or would I feel guilt, weakness and defeated craze?

The truth is that it is all in the past
And I stand here, untouched, unmoved, as in a cast
The memories of those moments are imprinted in my heart
And they will define my every new start

Each day is a lesson of dealing with fear
That maybe the fate will set a barrier
That our roads even though they have met
Will try to avoid, depart and eventually despair

What wouldn’t I give to relive these days
To lay down beside you in the moon’s glaze
To feel so safe, so lucky and so content
And no longer hear my heart’s lament

Today, are we both too stubborn to fight?
Or maybe we really just don’t know what’s right
My God, Your God, our God, our believes
They form our personalities and our dreams

The path that they will lead us is still unknown
But hopefully we will not have to walk it alone
And hopefully one day I will get to look into your eyes
And maybe I will have the courage to admit to all of my cries.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
