Strangers kissing in the street, 7
Confetti is flying high, 7
Military drums beat, 6
Men dancing with happiness, 7
People celebrate loudly, 7
German men surrender, 6
The war ended happily, 7
Camera’s flashing & clicking, 7
Her soft sweet lips kissed me, 6
She looked at me chuckling, 6
My kids jump on me happily, 7
Kids for the first time meeting, 7
Things are going smoothly, 7
Never are we parting, 6
I’m thanking God graciously, 7
I won’t leave without asking, 7

May I say, this poem is beautiful. Is it meter; the numbers? My dad fought in that ugly war as a marine. My mom's younger beloved brother died in it at the tender age of 18 - it left my grandparent's too sick then to get out of bed. Never, never would he (my father) speak too much about it. It all happened years before I was born. Thank you!
Peace! |
