Is this,'Our World!' Really?

Contributed by northernlights on Thursday, 28th February 2013 @ 05:42:30 AM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

Man stood before the Acceptance Commitee

And ignorance ensured he had no voice.

No beliefs, no opinions, no rights.

Judgement perused his appearance and loudly

Declared that the clothing he wore was not the

Same as theirs, so stripped him of his identity.

Man stood shivering and exposed

Intolerance declared that Man’s hair was not

An acceptable colour so shaved the crowning

Glory given to him by Nature, leaving man in

The company of Miss Understanding.

Quirkiness and individuality were not on the committee

So they removed his large misshapen nose and

Realised he didn’t see the world in the same way as they

Did, so left large empty sockets.

Man wouldn’t listen to their speeches of hatred and division

So they left him in a world of silence.

His skin was the wrong colour so they stripped him of Nature’s

Protection and left him to bleed.

His sexuality was unacceptable so they drained him of his hormones

And cut out his heart.

His kidneys removed defiled with sharing the same cup as those

who do not walk the same way.

His liver full of the poisons from sharing the food of those who do

not talk the same way.

His lungs blackened from breathing the same air as the rest of mankind

removed because?

They couldn’t stop his thoughts!

And there lay the remnants of Humanity

too late for tolerance to put back

The pieces.

Hi Anna,

WOW!!

The Acceptance committee wouldn't reside
somewhere near Westminster, by any
chance??

Oh yes, offtimes we are restricted, constricted,
evicted and afflicted, and too often
apathetic and apologetic and short on the
Poetic!

A fine piece, once again.

Tommy

Holy crap Batman!!! Or as Faith might say, "This is wicked powerful."

Sadly, in places, this is our world, really. :(

Awesome poem, my dear.
