They loved, they lived
They laughed, they cried
They truly tried
They felt, they understood
On their promises they made good
I was lucky to know them
Even luckier to remember them
In their defense I would fight
With their love bring light
With their wings come flight
....wherever it may bring them

I really enjoyed this reflection - emotional, literal, with clear imagery and genuine longing - we would be lesser beings without these experiences, no matter how painful.
