Beautiful Dreamer

Topic: LostLove

Last night, I dreamt of a world without you,
A world where I didn’t hurt,
A world where you didn’t take us for granted.
A world where you and I had never met,
You lived your way and I as well…the way it was originally designed.
It was every thing I thought it could be,
A place where I could be me,
Where I wouldn’t be measured by the actions of someone else.
In this reality that was a fallacy…
I fell in love with the woman of my dreams.
She knew my heart,
She loved me. Just for being me.
There was no pretend between us.
Everything…genuine, the real article.
Time flew in this world of mine…
In a blink of an eye,
We were well into our sixties.
The grey beginning to show,
The feet of the crows showed at the corner of our eyes.
The one constant I noticed in this world of mine.
Sheer happiness that I enjoyed with this woman,
I felt like I could never wake up from this fake reality.
And then…
We crossed paths in this dimension,
In this blissful beautiful dream of mine,
You seemed happy, but how was I to know we had never met.
We had never hugged, never shared an intimate kiss.
We never shared that heart-pounding embrace.
Unaware, empty when I glanced at your eyes.
But when they connected for a moment.
A residual touch of reality had interrupted my fantasy.
How could you? How would I let you?
To even think that you could alter this, this beautiful world of mine,
False perhaps,
But at least here, my heart would never feel the pain of loss.
A blur…a blink, and within a moment,
Time had shifted and so quickly…now well into our eighties.
This beautiful dream of mine,
She had given me a lifetime of happiness…
I could die in this moment and never ask for another breath of air.
Sweet beauty,
Dreamer of my soul,
Night watcher of my heart,
I couldn’t help the fact…
That this didn’t exist in this euphoric state of mind.
Hands intertwined, walking slowing down a path…
Beyond where the pain doesn’t reach the heart,
Where tears don’t run freely…
In this world of mine.
