To not be trusted by the one you love;
To not feel loved by the one who says, "I am so in love with you,"
And to not trust when they say they want you for eternity;
To feel ashamed of past actions;
To feel a disconnect from what you thought was real,
And wondering,"is this going to work?"
To feel a pain in your chest where you thought your soul was
Only to realize that pain you felt
Was now an empty cavity where you once felt alive.
To feel like the only thread you have to hang on to
is slowly braking under the pressure.
To know you don't want to trust the person you are with
Because in every stranger's eye you can see a fleck of deceit;
But your lover claims them as their own, you have to trust them.
To kiss the lips of a liar and tell yourself it tastes so sweet,
But the bittersweet left in your mouth burns as it soaks in;
To ask yourself, is this the same taste left behind on their tongue, too?
To know your soul belongs to them because it's all you ever want to know;
To feel ecstasy in your heart knowing that this,
This person here, is the one you want in your life forever;
This person is the one you want to claim as your soul mate.
To feel your heart skip a beat knowing you can be happy
But to feel sad somehow,
Because your soul fluttered away a long time ago;
To feel sympathetic for your lover, because maybe
Your only problem is that you have no soul left.
To turn around and promise yourself:
For this person,
This person alone,
You will search for your soul;
You will recreate the impossible,
Because maybe
This is meant to be.
