Two Worlds

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I used to rely on my world of daydreams
It was the only way to escape reality
The dreams made life bearable it seems
Letting me run from harm's responsibility

When the world around holds only fear
One escape is to hide under the covers
When no path of hope is gathered near
Or no skill to interpret pain from others

Using the strength of created daydreams
Coping within their realm of daily life
Not realizing how it became my extreme
Until I awoke on the edge of its knife

Seam broken between time's duplicity
No ability learned to repair its track
Two worlds will always collide eventually
So stands the moment to cut life some slack

Mind grasps for a place to put oneself
It fancies dreams for their controls are safe
The real world must be put high on a shelf
What else to do when its bonds start to chafe

Torn between a world that's solid and tough
Where your heart bleeds and the soul dies
Or is the fantasy world created enough
Where love runs rampant and never cries

On bended knee, I call out to understand
I know the solid world is where I belong
Need to convince the mind it can be grand
Please give me the faith to be strong

Softly, I feel a caring hand on my shoulder
Its kindness and love has me in a whirl
Time's wall crumbles boulder by boulder
My dread of tomorrow begins to unfurl

Realize now there's nothing I need fear
I can have the best of the adjoining schemes
As long as I keep hope and wonder near
Love is the needle that repairs the seams

I very much like how you turned it around in this poem...that depression and wanting to escape into fantasy from harsh reality. It is truly difficult at times but God and his angels are looking out for us.

Your poems consistently have a great flow, consistently have very interesting topics, and consistently are enjoyable.

Thank you,

Tim

I love the internalization of depression and thought in this, it makes my day to hear about how someone could deal with their hurt on the inside. Marvelous job
