I dreamed

Contributed by shelby on Tuesday, 26th February 2013 @ 01:36:46 AM in AEST
Topic: mystical

I dreamed of a sunny sky, a lemon drop against the blue.
Fields of swaying sunflowers, meadows dripping with dew.
I dreamed of happy times, and smiling faces all around.
Laughter and music, the only sound, whispers on the wind.

I dreamed of all of us together, joined in warm embraces
and nothing but love and warmth dancing bright on our faces.
I heard lots of I love you's, and felt warmth deep within my heart.
A perfect moment etched in time, a truth left within my heart.

I dreamed of everything, a perfect, serene place.
Where we were all a family, beating life at its race.
We stood together tall and strong, to not one would come any harm,
for we lived together in harmony and love, joy our only song.

I woke up from that dream, laying in the dark
almost shivered at the thought of it,
how could something seem so real??
That was really not??

I dreamed a little dream, my self made fantasy
a tear slid down my cheeks,
as the city noise and rain drifted in the window.
It wasn't real, only made up in my sleep
but what a nice dream I dreamed
even in waking hours its not for keeps.

Dreams truly do suck at times because we have to wake up from them. This sorta reminded me of a Twilight Zone I saw once where the woman escaped into a virtual fantasy world because she was happy there.

Really liked it, Michelle.

ahhh yes, the beautiful escape that is our dreams. Sometimes a moment, sometimes it seems an eternity. If only we could freeze time, or escape into a dream at will. :)

i like your poem. It reminds me of "I wanna go to that land" "And when i fall asleep at night
let me dream of a land that's a paradise
and when i wake up in the morning
help me bring a peace to earth."
Your poem seems to represent the sad reality of life but it also captures the dream of love and peace.
