If love is a battlefield,
Then i wear all your scars
I'm a moth to your flame
You and I
Acting like it was meant to be
A sign from heaven
That's what you said
I can't take the heartbreak
You pull me back every time
Please let me be free
The real world is waiting
It's full of possibilities
For a broken heart like me
You are my life, love, and only
But I need to be free

I do not know the context of this poem, but I feel like we are always free. It is a choice you make to be with this person. I do not see commitment as not being free. I have never understood such notions. I do, however, relate to wearing the other person's scars. Sometimes you are the one caught in the flames, and the other walks away unscathed. It is not fair, but such is life. |
