The Beast

There is a monster under my bed.
Or is it a monster inside my head?
It makes it hard for me to dream,
And I often hope for a small gleam.
A gleam that will help rid me of the beast
But then when I think the pain has ceased
It shows again with no mercy
But I know now that he is not worthy.
