A Soldier.

Contributed by The_Phantom on Monday, 5th August 2002 @ 06:08:08 AM in AEST
Topic: Patriotic

I was that which others did not want to be,
I did what I said I'd do, I've fought to keep us free,
I went where others feared to go, did what others failed to do,
Through out my vains runs red, white, and blue,

I ask nothing of those who gave nothing,
I was there when the war begain erupting,
I reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness should I fail,
And not once did I recieve mail,

I've seen the face of terror, felt the stinging cold of fear,
Many of my brothers have died, and I shed my share of tears,
I've enjoyed the sweet taste of a moments love,
On these battlefields I've spilled my own blood,

I have cried, pained, and hoped,
So many times I found it hard to cope,
I've lived times others say are best forgotten,
I seen the bodies lay silent in fields of cotten,

I found myself spitting into the wind,
As loneliness finds me again,
At least one day I will be able to say,
In the presents of death, I could pray,
Carrying this burden like a bolder,
I was proud of what I was..... A Soldier.

Forever Faithful
The Phantom
