Man in the Dark

Contributed by jyssvw22 on Wednesday, 30th January 2013 @ 07:39:18 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

There once was a time, believe it or not, when all seemed right, the stars told of a future, an auspicious start. Strips of the self, peeled away, like bark from a tree, exposing the decay, day after day, rotting away.

Everyone was a witness, though no one saw the crime, everyone offers their forgiveness, though no one has the time. Spare me your innocence, I remain unconvinced, spare me your resistance, I will not tug at your heart strings. Convince me you are serious, play me for a fool, tell me you are my mistress, keep it quiet, play it cool.

An entrance fee is collected, donations are accepted, transgressions are reflected, and processed again and again, until the soul convinces the body that it is blessed and without sin. A foreign feeling, drinks hide the memories in the mind, behind stone walls and chilling calls, he and I are one of a kind, from the bottom of the barrel, scum, slime, in death, sublime.

Think back not too long ago, reach back and grab what you cannot hold, head back, guide your finger to the tip of your nose, you claim you are awake, why are your eyes always closed?

I love this. I keep reading it over and over again just to relish the layers of emotions. Thank you for posting this.

This is so rich in detail and mixed emotions. Some call it decay, some call it battle scars. Wear them proudly. We are all flawed, and those of us that can't escape that reality are truly the luckiest. Wonderful. Just wonderful.
