Black Woman

Contributed by jennyjen on Tuesday, 29th January 2013 @ 09:51:36 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

My tears fall like rain from the dark sky,
My heart is a hole waiting to be filled with love,
My mind is the wind in the heat,
empty and useful.
My soul is buried treasure waiting to be found,
I don’t want to be a black woman anymore.
I am selfish and greedy,
mean and harsh,
I am lonely with pain.
I am heartless, I only feel my hurt.
My life is taken for granted.
I am never satisfied.
I wear fake smiles everywhere
LOOK AT ME!
I am black.
I am a black woman who holds her ground.
I am a black woman who means what she says.
I am a black woman who needs love.
I am a black woman who sheds tears, when my heart cant bare anymore.
LOOK AT ME!
This black woman
My reflection is ugly,
My size is fat,
I am useless!
Can’t I just stop being a black woman...
today?
Well... here I am!
A black woman
I’ve made it through all my misery,
looking back I laugh.
This is me. A Strong Black Woman!
Loving to live, living to laugh, and laughing to love.

Even though I can in no way relate to being who you are, this still made me smile. I'm glad to see you have found yourself and have accepted that. Strong conviction!

Thank you for a refreshing and enjoyable read.

Tim

I must say i truly enjoyed this passage.
The main reason is because we can all relate.
Everyone has at some point had some sort of self struggle.
The fact that you have over come it, is beautiful as are you.
Needless to say i like the way you express yourself.

I Love the confidence, it is strongly lacking in today's world, acceptance of oneself is a difficult thing. Reading this has made me think of my flaws and how they are me, and I them. And I'm okay with that.

I like the sentiment of this poem. I can relate to this but as a man. This shows a good example of how to write about strong emotions.
