Letting You Go

Contributed by Jeff_Scott_Morehead on Tuesday, 13th May 2003 @ 02:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Letting You Go

You asked me to set you free, so I let you go,
And I tried not the let the hurt on my face show.
I can no longer hold you back from what you desire,
Your affections for me are no longer for hirer.
Like a fast paced storm, you were off on your way,
And I haven’t heard or seen of you since that day.
Not a letter or a call, for all the years we spent,
Not even a generic card or an e-mail sent.
I hope you found the life that’s all your own,
If you haven’t, you could always come back home.
These arms of mine will always be open wide,
Once again happy to be by your side.
There will be no one else to take your place,
Even if these years I have to waste.
They say the good things in life never last,
Unlike these memories of the past.

Greetings: Scott
As I read your poem I put myself in your shoes. Indeed, if this is a realty poem you wrote. It is unlike millions of people out there who hurt because they lost something they enjoyed so much. It is no longer there.
But just as the British Writer John Dunn wrote:
"No man is an island unto himself", those words ring true to the lonely and hurting. You must go on and find another love to fill your days and nights.
There is an old saying: "The second time around is ever more better". In times like these you must look and seek to find someone whose hand is warm to touch, whose heart is evermore compassionate and loving and giving and ........just to hold close to your heart.
Believe it, my friend. You can love again. You can feel the excitement and the warmth of another love.
God forbide to live the rest of your life for an empty bowl when you can have the whole one full of cherries!!
Live my friend!
God Bless You!
