Mermaid

Contributed by LilaPearl on Tuesday, 15th January 2013 @ 01:08:53 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

In the dawn
I was a mermaid

Inside the calm dark muddy water
I found light and peace

I grew and walked the land
Where I met a man

In my water colored eyes
He saw mystery

Deep, he submerged into the abyss
And did drown in his own lies

When my mystique was unveiled
He tossed me to the sharks

This new water
Was cold and unfamiliar

So to land my flippers
Adapted again

My beautiful pain attracted
The fisher men

That tossed their line
To feed their ego

New water is what I need
But I am afraid my tears will soil it

My eyes burn from the salt
Eyes, that no longer see truth

Searching again for calm dark muddy water
That will warm my tail fins
