I cringe
Not because I miss you,
only for the abyss you
left.
I sigh
because room for a parade
of men as dumb as you has been made
The floor nicely swept.
I cringe because I learned
how to play pretend and I miss it,
a game I didn't know existed,
and I need it back.
I sigh
because I fell in love with smiling
and having a place without trying,
and now it's gone.
I cry
because I used to have dreams and standards
expectations that could not be dampered
of what love was.
I hate
because what I couldn't wait to feel
now has no place to be real,
that thing called love.
I cringe
because I pretended to love you,
so maybe that's the best I can do.
And nothing more.
I cringe
because I hate you,
and now hate
is my only fate
and love is numb.
