Kiss the Slave

A tear of wicked sorrow grows,
to paint my heart within its throes,
a thorn to press upon the skin,
come watch as all my blood runs thin,
a trickle born of sunken hope,
where lies caress forgotten foes,
to drop within a shadow's grasp,
a light that was not meant to last,
so soft... a kiss... upon this slave,
I dream of love... until the grave.

I wish I had written this. So perfectly said!
Sadly seems everything has an expiration date. Really shouldn't be that way but that's the way it is.
Great poem.

I feel there's a message here, but it's not quite coming to me right away. I'm liking the idea of the tear painting the heart, and I like the last two lines, because they make me think of the book I'm currently reading, "1984" by George Orwell. |
