I Guess You Loved Me

Contributed by chrissylee on Sunday, 4th August 2002 @ 09:32:25 PM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

You took my hand when I was young,
Showed me around like a second child,
Told me that I'd grow big and strong,
I guess you loved me.

I loved you more and more each day,
I listened to your stories of old times,
You'd tease my hair into lots of curls,
I guess you loved me.

As I grew into womanhood,
You were always there and understood,
Helped me through the bad times and good,
I guess you loved me.

As time went on I had my own babies,
You were so proud and loved them too,
Told me times will be hard,
I guess you loved me.

You'd pick me up when I was down,
When my life crumbled to the ground,
You'd help me up,
You knew how much it meant to me,
I guess you loved me.

Now the day has come for me,
To say how much you mean to me,
Well Nana you always meant the world to me,
I guess you loved me.

Through many tears now I cry,
Please understand the reason why,
It's cause all I have of you now,
Are so many sweet memories,
But oh, what good ones there are too,
I remember all our heart to hearts,
And you and I playing in the park,
Dancing out in the rain, having lots of laughs.

Now today I received the news,
That your life is at an end,
I never thought I'd lose you,
Always thought you'd always be here too.
Now all I have are our memories Nana,
That I will treasure forever because I love you.

dedicated to my Nana who passed away

My condolences on your nana despite it was two years ago. Your Naba would be proud of you and greatly appreciate your words you wrote to her in your poem. I believe the words written will grant her a very comfortable afterlife, because she knows she is loved by you!

A beautiful poem, written from the heart.
A great dedication to a wonderful Na na.
May she rest in peace.
