Let me express the shame of failure

I'm drowning in magnolia,
let me tear down these walls
let me articulate the pain of failure.
let me write in spray paint about it on bus windows or on block-garages
nothing is forever. Think of re-possesed homes think of failed marriages
take nothing for granted. Think of retirement homes think of dole queues
think. forty hours a week, overdue rent and a anguished choice: electric, clothes or food.
let me express the shame of failure that resides
ever so tenuously in my parents eyes
more overtime, a loan, a favour anything just to temporarily fix it
let me be, I'll talk it over with my grandparents after tea and biscuits
let me drown the dirty sensation of it in a weatherspoons
let me roll ciggarettes and listen to the radio on Saturday afternoons
let me wake up on a sunday to the sound of the motorway,
knowing I've got enough in the bank to keep the bailliffs away
let me express the shame of failure that lies
in every aspect of my life
running out of time and excuses wondering what I'm going to do
don't let my confidence and self-belief dissolve infront of you,
don't let me bump into old friends in the newsagents,
with me fumbling for change or the store declining my card payment
let me express the shame of failure
