Angel wings

Contributed by northernlights on Sunday, 16th December 2012 @ 02:35:14 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Troubled lives.

Bubble beneath the surface of Society and

Present to the world, erupting into an unimaginable canker.

Formed from years of festering, and we bring nothing to

Quell the rage for we continue to ignore our weaknesses,

Preferring to pretend it's all just a wonderful world.

Then I open a paper, a magnifying glass ready to stare

From a distance, but this time knowing of the latest

Eruption of inhumanity. I think that I can look and

That will be alright.

But it's not alright!
It’s far from alright.

For I see the pictures of the innocents destroyed.

And I can’t look.

I’ve always been able to look and try to understand

But I can’t look, for in the faces of the angels

Looking back at me I dissolve, I cannot be strong

And my heart breaks.

And I try to see the face of Christmas but that no

Longer holds my gaze nor my heart.

And the sacrificial angels turn to face me and I

Am not worthy of their shadow, for I know

That they stood in front of the bullets,

And they gave hope in the terror

And they gave their lives

For they knew

the worth of each and every little angel.

Absolute perfection!!!! You've captured the horror of the monster and the courage of the heroes.

Brilliant!
