The End of Honesty

Contributed by Aspirant on Saturday, 15th December 2012 @ 07:25:13 PM in AEST
Topic: anguished

go and get a (censored) job,
you worthless trash
see what it amounts to
a self-devoted shameful fool
afraid to show himself
weak and educated in its definition
looking down, looking up, looking away
trying to change the world
trying to change its look
optimistic, like a cow
without a purpose
like a tool
knowing and learning more each day
denying what you see
what you know
a failure in every aspect
profound superficiality
excavates your fragile being
torn in the racks of light

begging that those racks can be a sign
blaming the subconscious for the self
anything but me
anyone but me
cowardly, dependant, everything you claim
a testament to lies, subversion of sincerity

find that darkness in yourself
don't pretend it isn't you
burn it
but it won't die
you're a fool
you're the darkness
and you can't destroy it
you might be responsible and declare it
you might be brave and fight it
you might be strong and endure it
but never
will you cease to be you

you would like to define some rules
some concepts for self-judgement
for vindication
on what do you base them?
your rules are a mirror of your flaws
you can never define yourself
in a beautiful light

the words lent you their power
now you've come to see it wasn't yours

you've always thought:
a man should stand up
he should try to stand up
and if he fails, he should try again
then you watched yourself fall
with legs able to stand
you fell
you chose to fall
because it was easier
you know it's wrong
socially, it's "wrong"
you erased that promise you made to society

now, you're alone
now, you aren't sure of anything
now, you're broken
now, you see nothing beyond the moment
now, you've erased yourself
now, all that thought has changed
now, peace is your agony

life is not for you
even the voice is a pretender
your true self, if it exists
no longer thinks, no longer speaks

so now there is only one thing to do:
live until you die
purpose has forsaken you

there is only one thing you know:
life is precious, time is precious
the only mistake is to waste it
each moment must be meaningful

yet, you now live in a world without meaning
you have destroyed it, perhaps by definition
but the reason matters not
there is no matter anymore

it's true, all this is just
a matter of perspective
but then, how do you change your perspective?
if all that exists is perception
about what axis must you rotate
to find yourself?

I love it. The edge of abject, a word I''d been trying to admit that is timelessly true. You don't need to use the word educated, it's beating in your writing, translating itself with no burden, to the reader, genuine, and true.
Hope it's not the end. Hope there's more to come from you!
BTW, I don't misspell words on purpose, and a genuine person no matter how intelligent they are never ever intimidates even the weakest of minds.
Thank you --- and I look forward to reading more... fast or slow, I'm led to believe they're pretty darn good. BTW - throw out or stash, you should stash them friend.
Peace!

I used to do what is called blind brainstorming, which allows the mind to race without worrying about grammar, punctuation, or spelling. In any case, it consists of simply turning off your screen and writing. You should give it a shot.

I liked the poem by the by.
