The Looking Glass

Topic: LovePoetry

She stares intently into the darkness of night.
Wondering where her dreams might have led.
Thinking of fun times down at the beach,
Remembering all the tears she has shed.

Her joy comes from her beautiful daughter.
So pretty in her dress, and her dark hair.
She takes pride as she watches her play,
Running in the field, enjoying the mountain air.

She thinks back on her grandpa, and her father,
It always seems to calm her apprehension.
Recalling things about them make her strong.
It has a way to ease all her tensions.

Sitting on her front porch railing,
She seems to reminisce about things in her life.
Some victorious, while other are atrocious.
The emotional highs and lows keep her awake at night.

She stares at the stars and the moon,
She gets lost in the vast sea of black.
Lost in her thoughts of the moment,
What would she do, if she could go back?

She is such a special person in every possible way,
A wonderful combination of beauty and elegance.
Touching hearts and doesn't even know it,
For this, I hold her with such high reverence.

What it must be like to hold her hand,
What a joy to see her glowing face.
Just being in her presence gives so much joy,
Like being in royalty, just call her “Your Grace”.

As the moon gives way to the morning sun,
Still focused on that morning sky.
She’s lost in her own emotions.
Wandering if he could be “the guy”.

So while she looks through that looking glass,
The one in that big ole sky of blue.
Know there is someone on the other side.
Trying so desperately to see you too.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
