SECRETS
Love treasures its secrets as a seashell binds the sea echoed soft in memory
Tears hide there secrets as a smile covers fear.
Love lost veils its secrets as the darkness wraps the night
Secrets play a hard game we follow their rule then they take the one thing you thought you’d never lose.
I ask is if she’s with you keep her warm and safe
and if it’s in your power fade my memory of her face.
Time grips it secrets like a hand around your throat.
Regret stings its secrets like a whip
Life holds its secrets poised like a knife
