Out of the Game

Contributed by mchall629 on Sunday, 2nd December 2012 @ 11:39:54 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I have been up throughout the night,
Trying to put pen to paper and write.
Write something then scratch it out,
Every word leaves me with doubts.

Seeing my future without having you,
Leaves me lost searching for clues.
How I'm suppose to get through today,
On my knees while I beg and I pray.

You gave me excuses to save my pain,
Each time I had a way to explain.
So you tried to just push me away,
And each time I was committed to stay.

I told you I would never give up,
Cause I want you so so much.
Told you I would continue to fight,
It's hard knowing where you are tonight.

Tonight the harsh reality has set in,
At the very least it's a temporary end.
Now I have to make a decision that's bold,
Turn the thermostat all the way to cold.

I'll freeze my heart, preserve it for you,
In case you ever want to start over new.
Praying that somewhere down the line,
You'll fall back into these arms of mine.

If not then you've done me a great honor,
For my heart, you've helped me to conquer.
Keep it frozen under lock and key,
Pulled from the game after strike three.

Hope I've given enough to remember me by,
Maybe you'll think of me once in a while.
I'm sure we will see each other around,
Just don't judge if I seem a little bit down.

So here's to your happiness in life,
And that he will always treat you right.
He better show you nothing but respect,
Never should he treat you as an object.

He needs to show unconditional love,
Treat you as an Angel sent from above.
That's the least of things that you deserve,
At least that's what I've been able to observe.

If the path you're on doesn't seem right,
Remember, I won't be very far out of sight.
Given a chance my heart will get in the game,
But only if Karina happens to be her name.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
