If you had a crystal ball,
Into the future you could see.
Would it change your mind,
Or in what you believe.
If you knew the outcome,
To life's important events.
Would you change course,
Or would you remain convinced.
What if there were no gambles,
No such thing as taking chance.
Would you hold true to today,
Or possibly change your stance.
Imagine no more rolling the dice,
No more chance to roll craps.
Would you open your heart like a keg,
And let love flow from it's tap.
If you knew the things tomorrow,
You learned from yesterday.
Is there an effect on decisions,
Or could you love without delay.
Part of the beauty of romance,
Not knowing what is to come.
Enjoying what comes unexpected,
Wandering where that came from.
It's the surprises that pop up,
Around each and every turn.
To see the look in their eyes,
For in these moments we learn.
When we learn about ourselves,
And about the person we're with.
If we jump straight to the future,
These are moments we would miss.
So I want to keep plugging away,
To where an uncertain future lies.
All that I need to believe in,
Is that you will be in my life.
I don't need a crystal ball,
To know how the story unfolds.
I'll recount it all someday,
After we've both grown old.
