The Clock

Contributed by mchall629 on Friday, 23rd November 2012 @ 05:27:14 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Life is nothing more than a circle,
What to do when it comes back around?
Recheck your things in this life,
Of what's been lost and what's been found.

Just like that big old second hand,
That we watch chase around the clock.
Some moments we wish would hurry,
While a few wishing time would stop.

Like standing outside Buckingham Palace,
Watching the changing of the guard,
Few things in this life come easy,
Most things good always seem hard.

It's really how we conduct ourselves,
When the second hand stops it's move.
For it's in these darkest of hours,
We give ourselves a chance to prove.

To prove our worth and we are worthy,
By displaying the love we have to give.
Open up our broken, bleeding hearts,
After all we have but one life to live.

We can't muddle our way through life,
Living with this fear of rejection.
You have to give everything that you are,
Not just little pieces of a small section.

If we are divided inside our own souls,
Then surely divided we will fall.
So I have put it all out there now,
Everything I am you can have it all.

I will continue to wind our clock,
So that the hand continues to tick.
And with each movement of the hand,
I will continue to make the same wish.

I will keep wishing someday soon,
You'll decide to stop that second hand.
Freezing time where we can be together,
And together is where you and I shall stand.

If for some reason in the end,
This love I give isn't fully returned.
I shall not be remembered as defeated,
Rather I took a swing when it was my turn.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
