Are you laughing now,
Like you laughed at the tears I shed throughout our lives?
No, you're not laughing,
But I suppose I'm not crying.
Are you eager to fight,
The way you fought me over every molehill until I wanted to claw your eyes out?
This fight I have won,
But I suppose all your fight is gone.
Are you still smug,
With that taxing smirk for which I bore the brunt of the burden?
You have fallen from your conceit,
But I suppose I flattened your feet.
Aren't you going to say something?
I loathed your voice for so long, but now I'd give anything to have it back.
Why won't you assert yourself?
But I suppose I can only blame myself.

This is really deep and so sad.
It made me think of how much anger and hate are draining and wasted feelings. Made me think about how we should treat people good every day, as if they could die tomorrow...because they can.
It was this line that made me feel that way: I loathed your voice for so long, but now I'd give anything to have it back.
Not sure if that's what you were going for but that's what I got out of it...regret.
Thank you,
Tim |
