Wondrous Words

Contributed by thistle_and_fern on Friday, 16th November 2012 @ 09:59:32 PM in AEST
Topic: happypoetry

I'm weaving a web
of wonderous words,
With commas and nouns,
paragraphs and verbs.
All of these words
reside in my head,
And come out to haunt me,
when I am in bed.
They sit there all day,
Asleep in my brain,
But as I am sleeping,
They drive me insane.
The words then decide,
to come out and play,
And I am left dreaming,
of alphabet days.
They jump and they jiggle
to make lines of rhyme,
Till my alarm wakes me
and I'm out of time.
The webs of my words
then go back to sleep.
And I am left exhausted
from lack of sleep.
I wish that the words,
would come out to play
During the day time
when it is okay.
I could use their importance
during this time
Instead of being gobsmacked
when writing a line.

I've lost count of the times I've woken up with a thread of an idea in my mind and have had to scurry about the house for a paper and pen.
I used to be the same when I wrote songs, I understand your frustration.
Still, you've managed to portray that really well in this piece.

Steve

Keep a notebook beneath your pillow. You never know when something clever is going to pop in your head.
